What is a sitemap?
An XML file that lists the addresses of your website. Search engines use it to find pages faster and to see when they changed.
How many addresses can a sitemap have?
Up to 50,000 addresses and 50 MB. Larger sites split it and point to the parts with a sitemap index. This validator reads up to 3 MB.
Do I need priority and changefreq?
No. Google ignores both. A real lastmod date matters more, changed only when something actually changes.
Does Webflow create the sitemap automatically?
Yes, at /sitemap.xml. You exclude single pages in the page settings. You only need the generator here for special cases.
Where do I submit the sitemap?
In Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, and with a "Sitemap: …" line in the robots.txt.
Is what I enter stored?
No. For an address, our server fetches the public sitemap and returns it to your browser. The address is not stored. Pasted XML stays in your browser.
