Check your meta title and description before Google cuts them.
Enter a title and description and see at once how the page could look in Google search, on desktop and mobile. It is measured in pixels, not just characters.
Free. No signup. Runs in your browser, your text is not stored.
Google cuts by width and may also rewrite titles and descriptions itself. The preview is an approximation.
How the check works
PREVIEW
Search as it could look
Title, description and address appear like a Google result, on desktop and mobile.
MEASURING
Pixels, not characters
Google cuts by width. The checker measures width like the browser and shows where it would be cut.
CHECKS
Checks that matter
Length, main keyword, repetition, capital letters and duplicate statements are checked. At the end you copy the finished HTML.
Questions about the meta tag checker
How long should a meta title be?
Around 30 to 60 characters, more precisely up to about 600 pixels wide. It depends on the letters: a title with many wide letters is cut sooner.
And the description?
About 70 to 155 characters. More important than length: answer the searcher's question in the first words.
Does the meta description affect rankings?
Not directly. But it affects whether someone clicks, and so indirectly how well the page performs.
Why does Google show something different for me?
Google often rewrites titles and descriptions when they do not match the search query. Clear, specific text is replaced less often.
Is my text stored?
No, everything runs in your browser.
