Questions about the cookie banner generator
Does my website need a cookie banner at all?
That depends on your services and your visitors. If only necessary cookies run, a note in the privacy policy is often enough. For analytics and marketing many sites collect consent, especially from visitors in the EU. If in doubt, ask a professional.
Is the banner enough on its own?
No. The banner asks and remembers the answer. You must also mark every analytics or marketing script with type="text/plain" and data-category, otherwise it starts before consent. An example sits next to the code.
What does Google Consent Mode v2 do?
The banner tells Google services what the visitor allowed. Until they agree, everything is set to denied. That lets Google Analytics respect the choice.
Where does the banner code come from?
From the open-source library vanilla-cookieconsent under the MIT license. The generator only produces the settings. The files load from jsDelivr here. If you want more privacy, download them and host them yourself.
Is what I enter stored?
No. The generator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is transmitted.
