A single page is checked, not the whole website. Some websites block automated requests, so a link may wrongly appear as not checkable.
How the checker works
COLLECT
All links on the page
The checker reads the page and collects the links from menu, content and footer.
TEST
Every link is opened
Up to 40 different links are tested, with up to three redirects per link.
SORT
Broken, blocked, redirected
Broken links come first. Then those that cannot be checked, and the redirects you can update.
Questions about broken links
Why are broken links a problem?
Visitors land on an error page and leave. Search engines read many broken links as a sign of a neglected website.
What does 404 mean?
The page no longer exists or the address is wrong. Fix the link or redirect the old address.
Why does a working link show as blocked?
Social networks and some directories block automated requests. A quick manual click is then worthwhile.
Does the checker test the whole website?
No, only the page whose address you enter. Repeat the check for your most important pages.
Is what I enter stored?
No. Our server fetches the page and its links for you. The address is not stored.
